One huge inspiration that I research into when creating my final typeface design for Studio brief 3 was diagonalpress.com. In particular, the type specimen posters: Basic cactus, Wiggle and Two wire (in order)
The design links to my typeface:
-The style of waves and irregular turnings throughout each letter
-The Basic Cactus typeface has a different curvy line for each letter; doesn't stick to the same continuous pattern (each letter is different but they all work together as a whole as well)
-The idea of a bumpy journey; doesn't run smoothly, sudden turns
-Bold and abstract, not very neutral and quite out there without getting too complicated
-Follows rules in terms of keeping the line weight even throughout
"More than anything, this is a document of letter logic. Every typeface is built on a matrix of sorts — a system of components or shapes that combine in various ways to form each letter. Each poster shows the face’s matrix glyph (recto) and the resulting alphabet (verso)" - Tauba Auerbach (creater and designer of diagonalpress.com)
