Survey Research

In order to gather more primary research relating to the issue I am focusing on, I have created a survey for people to fill in, consisting of 10 questions. Doing a survey on this topic is useful and relevant as people my age can relate to the issue (the negative impacts of social media) as research shows that 16-24 year olds are the most active on social media.

The questions:

1. Do you feel that social media has had negative effects on your self esteem and relationships with other people?

2. Have you ever felt that urge to delete your social media profiles? If yes, what stopped you from doing so?

3. Have other peoples social media posts ever made you feel insecure about yourself or made you compare yourself to them?

4. Are there any specific ways in which social media has had a negative impact on your relationships with other people?

5. Does getting a high amount of likes on a post make you feel good about yourself? Or does it not bother you?

6. 'When we’re feeling unfulfilled in our real lives, it’s all too easy to turn to the digital version of ourselves' do you agree with this statement?

7. Researchers have found a wide array of negative effects including upticks in anxiety and depression as well as loneliness, envy, and even narcissism because of social media. Can you personally relate to this?

8. Which social media platform do you think is most successful in being able to check up on people or stalk them?

9. Have you ever witnessed or been involved in online harassment?

10. Numerous research studies prove that social media platforms negatively affect people’s social skills. Would you prefer to talk to someone over messenger or in person?
