Chaosmos Workshop

After receiving the Chaosmos lecture, we were set a workshop for the rest of the day in which our brief was to work collaboratively and test our visual communication skills by exploring image relationships. Me, Jake and Beth worked together as a three.

We were set the task to create a series of 3 images which were presented simultaneously conveying the theme of the word we picked out of a hat, our word was WORSHIP. The three of us combined our skills in order to produce these images. The main technique that we used was digital collage as it is extremely experimental/doesn't have to have any boundaries, also because we all enjoy this technique.

We started by creating a mindmap of words/concepts which explore the word worship:
  • Religion
  • God
  • Jesus
  • Church/Church art
  • Money
  • Instagram celebrities
  • Famous people
  • Cupids/cherubs
  • Devil
  • Angel
  • Heaven
  • Hell
We decided to each create a digital collage which we would then send to the next person to add to and tweak, so that in the end it meant that all 3 of us had worked on all 3 collages. We decided to approach the designs in a humorous way which meant that they had a more fun, quirky aesthetic. The collages take their inspiration from obvious things that relate to worship (religion, gods, church, heaven etc) and combined it with the concept that people worship celebrities and social media influencers (Instagram etc) in the same way.

The final 3 collages:
